  • Preparing for Tropical Storm Erika

    Tropical Storm Erika is currently traveling the northeastern Caribbean Sea with maximum sustained winds of fifty miles per hour. The five-day forecast issued by the National Hurricane Center predicts that from August 30 through September 2, Tropical Storm Erika will travel through Florida and pose a threat to the state. This requires timely precautions and preparation.

    We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated through the Revenue Emergency and Disaster webpage at http://emdisaster.fdor.dor.state.fl.us/   Please check the News and Messages and the Revenue Office Closures on this site for updates.  You may also check the Office Closure Information line at 888-367-8595 for any office closures.

    Please take other precautions as needed, both at the office and at home, and monitor local weather reports.  

    Office preparations:
    • Make sure that your office call tree is updated with current contact information.
    • Secure confidential information from flood and wind damage.
    • Disconnect computers and other machines.

    Home preparations:
    • Ensure you have enough food supplies and water.
    • Fill your vehicles with gas.
    • Review your Family Disaster Plan.  If you do not have one, go to www.floridadisaster.org/family/ and build one.

    The Emergency Management Office will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as conditions change.
